The State International Development Organizations (SIDO) is the only national organization dedicated to supporting state trade and investment programs.  Through SIDO state international trade professionals are able to share best practices, access professional development activities, and advocate the interests of their agencies.

Benefits of SIDO Membership:

  Advocacy – SIDO is the voice of state trade and investment agencies both in Washington and in state capitols. 

Networking –SIDO’s meetings, conference calls, and other events offer an unparalleled opportunity for trade professionals to share best practices on performance measurement, trade missions, and a host of other topics. 

Training – SIDO organizes formal training seminars for state trade staff and provides opportunities for state employees to attend training programs organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce.  

Resources – SIDO utilizes surveys and other studies to provide trade agencies with up-to-date information on program management trends, funding opportunities, and best practices.

Membership Levels:

Member State or Province ($2,200) – Open to government agencies from all U.S. states as well as provincial governments from international partners.  Member states are eligible to serve on SIDO’s Board of Directors and play a lead role in SIDO’s advocacy programs.

Private Sector Affiliate ($1,500) – Open to private companies, trade associations, and other business groups.  Network with trade professionals from across the country.  Receive membership discounts for SIDO meetings and events.  

Local Affiliate ($1,000) – Open to local government agencies and economic development organizations.  Receive membership discounts for all SIDO meetings, trainings, and market research missions.  Participate in advocacy efforts with member states.

Academic Organization ($500) Open to universities, community colleges, and Small Business Development Centers (SBDC’s).  Receive membership discounts for SIDO meetings and access to SIDO’s original research data on trends in trade promotion.
