Job Description

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) is seeking a motivated professional to join its team as the International Relations Coordinator.

The International Relations Coordinator, as part of the International Trade team, will oversee, facilitate, and represent the development of international relations with Partner State affiliations on behalf of the State of Iowa.

General Duties:

Partner States Relationship Management
-Represents Partner States in collaborative efforts to conduct exchange programs with participating countries
-Develops and maintains working relationships with key officials in state government, private sector business, local governments, foreign governments, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and funding organizations
-Travels domestically and internationally

Delegation Coordination
-Manages the state’s programs that bring international visitors to Iowa, including those directed by partner organizations
-Coordinates logistics and required resources for special events, meetings, and delegations

International Relations Coordination
-Manages the coordination of international visitors to the state
-Provides support for special events and travel including scheduling courtesy meetings, photo ops, and briefings
-Recommends and coordinates gifts and promotional items for high-level visitors and travel events
-Liaises with domestic and international travel organizations to coordinate travel logistics
-Prepares digital briefing books for staff to ensure they are fully prepared for business and government meetings
-Remains current on all required Protocol training

The ideal candidate will have experience building and navigating cross-cultural business relationships and possess an understanding of international customs and protocol. Prior experience conducting foreign business travel and communicating in a foreign language will also be considered.

The International Relations Coordinator position is a non-contract, non-merit position that is classified by the State of Iowa as an Economic Development Specialist 2. This position is exempt (salaried) per FLSA regulations.

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Economic Development Authority . Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in research, planning, economics, public relations, business, corporate finance, journalism, or marketing and experience equal to two years of full-time work that involved responsibility for interpreting laws, rules and regulations, and/or securing compliance with them; or compiling and evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial, or technical related or program data;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the above required experience for each year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of the required education.
